          Bartolome Esteban Murillo (1617-1682)

        Bartolome Esteban Murillo was born in 1617 in Seville and he was the first Spanish painter to achieve renown throughout Europe.  

        Many of his religious paintings emphasized the peaceful and joyous aspects of spiritual life.
